1. Our Drama Camps Focus on Acting Skills
Voice training, movement, improvisation, character creation, scene study, stage presence and more… our drama camps are a great way to develop essential acting skills.
2. Drama Camps are a Terrific Way to Make Friends
There’s a huge amount of laughter that happens in an acting camp as our campers discover the importance of ensemble playing and team skills. Many of our young actors stay in touch long after their acting camp is done.
3. Drama Camp Teaches Devised Theatre and Story Creation Skills
Story structure and playwriting are transferable skills, making drama camp a fun way to see your marks go up in English class, and other subjects, too.
4. Drama Camps at Centauri Arts are Designed with Teens in Mind
Our acting workshops are intended for young people 11-18. They are taught by acting coaches who work professionally in the performance field and understand the needs of teenage actors.
5. Drama Camp is About More Than Acting Skills
Young actors develop leadership, learn to work well in a team and build skills essential for later life: confidence, communication skills, problem solving and more.
6. Acting is all About Empowerment!
Young actors discover that performance is empowering. When our drama campers work together to devise their own theatre, they realise they can impact the world with their ideas.
7. Creativity is an Essential Skill
Young actors who put their creativity to work are learning the value of original ideas. Creativity helps us to stand out from the crowd!
8. Drama Camp Allows for Full Immersion in an Art Form
Through the year, young actors might only have an hour or two a week to spare for acting class, but in the summer they can immerse themselves in actor workshops, rehearsals and performance – focusing on an activity they love at the exclusion of all else.
9. Drama Camp is Great for Mental Well-being
Over the span of a week, young actors learn to trust and support one another, and their confidence soars. They play theatre games together and discover the power of the flow state as they immerse themselves in actor training workshops. All these factors make drama camp great for a camper’s emotional and mention health.
10. Drama Camp is FUN!
If you could be a fly on the wall in an acting class, you would hear laughter and animated chatter. You would witness young people supporting one another – helping each other to grow as performers, and people. As our campers play theatre games, make new friends and create theatre they can be proud of, great memories are forged.
