Film Classes
Film Production and Performance
Ages 11-17, In our Bloor West Village Studio:
Thursdays, 5pm – 6.30pm AND 7.00pm-8.00pm
Learn – or review – the basics of film making: storyboarding, directing, camera operation, audio, lighting and production design. Each hands-on film course begins with a sequence of short film projects; by rising to challenges set by the instructor and critiquing the results, students further the skills they need to create their own short film. Discover how to tell a story visually, and how to create mood and tension through your manipulation of the film medium. Rotate between production jobs as you film your movie in the Centauri studio and on location. In each semester, film students create a short film inspired by a movie genre, film director or by a concept introduced by the instructor.

Fine Art Classes
Centauri Arts has FOUR Fine Art programs available starting January 2025– an in-person studio art program on Monday and Wednesday evenings, a virtual Digital Art class on Mondays.
Fine Art Class in our Bloor West Studio
In our Bloor West Village Studio:
Wednesdays, 5.00pm-6.30pm ages 11-17
Our Fine Art classes take place in our Bloor West Village Studio, which is an easy 5-minute walk from Runnymede subway station. Young artists attend from Swansea, High Park, The Junction and Bloor West neighbourhoods, and from all over Toronto. Our fine art classes include projects in sketching, cartoon creation, acrylics, watercolour, sculpture and more, all led by a professional artist. Our art studio is a relaxing space where young artists can focus on their own projects, working at their own pace.

Fabulous Fabric Arts
In our Bloor West Village Studio:
Wednesdays 7.00pm to 8.30pm, Ages 11-17
Make original art with fabric in this exciting new program! Learn to knit, sew, embroider and weave… or if you have tried these before, take your skills to the next level. Explore natural dyes, up-cycle clothing and paint on fabric to create amazing, original designs. Reflect your personality in fashion illustrations and exciting wearable art. From collage to crochet, this program has it all!

Digital Art & Animation Class, Offered Virtually & In-Studio

Our digital art classes take place online, and we welcome young people from across Ontario and further afield. Build a digital marketing campaign, create a fantasy world, design a theme park, and more! Digital art classes unlock creativity – and they also increase proficiency in programs such as Canva, that students use in school. Fine Art: From Monet to Matisse

Get inspired by some of the world’s greatest artists as you paint, draw, collage, sculpt and make fabulous original art. Each week we’ll explore a new artist or art movement, experimenting with their use of colour, texture, space, form and shape. You’ll use a range of art materials as you complete fine art projects designed to help you unlock your inner artist. Whether you already love making art or you want to try something new, this workshop will encourage you to push your creativity in new and exciting ways.

Our Creative Writing Classes bring together young people who love to write, and experienced writers who have the skills to teach, nurture and inspire. Beginner and experienced writers are welcome! Young writers explore plot, character, setting, structure and editing as they build community, discover their writer’s voice and experiment with form and style. Projects are varied and include poetry, playwriting, screenwriting, fantasy world-building, genre fiction, novel structure, flash fiction, graphic novel writing and more.

Acting Classes
An Actor’s Workshop:

Tuesdays, 7.00pm-8.30pm
Join our acting ensemble and build your skills as a performer while having FUN! Weekly classes include workshops in improvisation, character creation, scene study, voice, movement, physical theatre and stage presence.
