Now spring is upon us, it’s time to think about summer arts enrichment for your children and teens.
Arts Camps in Toronto
Summer is a special time in the life of children and teenagers. It’s often the only time of the year when they can focus intensively on one interest, developing a new skill or exploring an existing interest. We understand this at Centauri Arts and so each summer we offer specialized summer arts camps for ages 9-18. Our campers can choose from creative writing, animation, digital art, fine art, photography, acting and film-making.
Why Choose Arts Enrichment this Summer?
This is a tough time for the arts in our schools. We hear again and again that children and teens no longer have the opportunity to explore their creative talents in the classroom. Creativity isn’t just about getting a job in a niche sector; it’s about equipping our kids and teenagers with the skills they need to succeed in life and in the workplace. A creative mindset is essential for success. Furthermore, when children and teenagers explore the arts with us through the summer, they engage in team skills and learn to communicate in a range of situations. Arts camps help children and teenagers to better understand the world we live in, and perhaps most importantly, the arts give them a voice.
Arts Enrichment for Teenagers
Our arts programs in West Toronto are different from traditional day camps because they are designed especially with teenagers and older children in mind. Each of our day camps runs for 4.5 hours daily, focusing only on the arts activity they have chosen. This intensive arts camp structure means they gain the most from the time they are with us, and still have plenty of time remaining to socialize with friends, take a part time job and enjoy relaxing through the summer. Our summer arts camps are not about childcare because our campers are older. They start later in the day and we even have some camps available late afternoon and early evening.
The Location of our Summer Arts Camps
Our summer camps in creative writing, film-making, acting, digital arts, photography and animation take place in Bloor West Village. We are within easy reach of Swansea, Roncesvalles, Humber Valley, Baby Point and Etobicoke. Our multi-purpose art studio is located a 5 minute walk from Jane and Runnymede subway stations and we are easily accessible by TTC with parking just across the road on Windermere. Our summer arts campers don’t just work in our studio, though. We spend time in High Park and take advantage of the resources in Bloor West Village.
Film-making Camps, Creative Writing Camps, Fine Art Camps, Acting Camps, Photography Camps, Animation Camps… we have it all!
Centauri Arts works with a wide range of professional arts instructors so we can offer a huge selection of arts day camps for children and teenagers. The quality of our arts staff is something that sets us apart from most day camps in Toronto. Unlike many day camp programs, we don’t employ students to teach and lead our arts camps; our arts staff are all professionals and educators in their field. Children and teenagers with an interest in the arts have the opportunity to learn from people who make their career in arts and culture.
