In the last 12 months our international writing retreats have been on hold because… well, we all know. But with vaccinations now well under way, most of us are starting to think about the future again – and to plan our post-pandemic adventures.
In December, we’re running a one-week creative writing holiday to the beautiful city of Merida, in Mexico, and in February 2021 we’re offering two creative writing retreats to our rainforest lodge in Costa Rica.
A writing retreat is the perfect way to explore a new interest, kickstart a creative project or carve out a chunk of time to work on your memoir, poetry collection or novel. Mornings are spent in writing workshops, as we build a community, inspiring one another. Afternoons are set aside for personal writing, or sightseeing with your fellow writers. In the evenings, we come together to share a dinner on a patio, talk about writing, or read to one another.
A writing retreat is not only for a week – the inspiring and rejuvenating effects of a week spent in a community of fellow writers will stay with you long after the memories are made.
Our Mexico retreat takes place in a serene boutique hotel in the heart of Merida, just 3 hours by bus from Cancun. We have a pool, attractive shaded courtyards to write in, and fabulous outdoor restaurants a short walk away. In the afternoons, enjoy galleries, museums, Mayan ruins, beaches and peaceful haciendas.
Our Costa Rica retreat is a comfortable lodge with a spa and pool, surrounded in rainforest. Our writing workshops take place on a terrace from which we can view hummingbirds, sloths and toucans. Our lodge is just 2.5 hours from the international airport at San Jose and there are so many activities to enjoy on site: nature hikes, guided night walks, chocolate-making, bird watching tours and hammocks from which to view the wildlife.
We are very optimistic that all three of our creative writing retreats will proceed – but for your financial protection, we offer a 100% refund of the deposit if COVID forces us to cancel any of the retreats. No other fees are payable until 12 weeks before your writing holiday.
Our creative writing retreats are now half to three quarters full.
